The LRA FRDCPYR replacement tank is designed for Ford Ranger T9 models produced from 2022 onwards, as well as Volkswagen Amarok models produced from 2023 onwards. It replaces the original tank and increases fuel capacity to 140 litres. The standard filler point is retained, as are the original exhaust and spare wheel location. This configuration increases the vehicle's range without altering its primary functionalities. It is suitable for long-distance use, professional travel in remote areas, and off-road applications. The tank is compatible with 4-cylinder Bi-Turbo and 3.0-litre V6 engines.Since 1989, Long Range Automotive has been designing and manufacturing its tanks in Australia. Each model is developed for a specific vehicle application to optimize available volume while respecting the mechanical constraints of the chassis, filler, exhaust, and transmission. LRA tanks are made from 2 mm T125CQ aluminized steel. They incorporate internal baffling to limit fuel movement and an expansion chamber. Welds are made using a MIG process. Before commercialization, each tank undergoes pressure tests and a double quality control to verify its conformity and leak-tightness. Installation is estimated to take approximately 3 hours. If a flatbed is installed in place of the original bed, the filling system may require adaptation.
